Colour electronic paper

Not long ago I heard news of Philips black and white electronic paper. Now, about one month later, Fujitsu have announced the colour version of this:

Bendable electronic color paper with Image memory from Fujitsu

From the article:

At CEATEC Fujitsu displayed the world's first film substrate-based bendable color electronic paper with an image memory function. The new electronic paper features vivid color images that are unaffected even when the screen is bent, and features an image memory function that enables continuous display of the same image without the need for electricity. The new electronic paper is constructed of three displaying layers - red, blue, and green. Since no color filters or polarizing layers are required, it features color that is significantly more vivid than conventional reflective-type LCD’s. Proprietary Fujitsu technology ensures that screen color is unaffected even when the screen is bent or pressed with fingers. The paper can display 4096 colors and hence you have smooth gradation of images etc.
It would be handy if this was eventually used (after further development of course) on devices such as laptops and PDA’s. Having a lower possibility of cracking the screen sure would be an advantage.
