A range of choices

I though two different versions of an operating system would be good enough. Well it seems that Microsoft does not think so:

Windows Vista to come in 7 versions

From the article:

Cereal makers use a curious strategy called "shelf saturation" to increase their sales. The theory goes like this: it doesn't matter if you make 50 brands of cereal, even if they essentially compete with one another--the important thing is to saturate as much shelf space as possible, as research has shown that the more cereal "versions" you have, the greater the chances of getting a sale. That's why it's odd when it looks like Microsoft is taking a page from General Mills' playbook by releasing the upcoming Windows Vista in not one, not two, not three, not even four, 5, or 6 versions. No, Vista is going to be out there in 7 different flavors, each one vying for time on your busy eyeball.
Now I wonder if all these different versions are going to slow down the release of Windows Vista.
